In the Triad, there are three Chinese buffets I've been to more than twice: this one, Ichiban Grill, and China Buffet. This one is the worst in terms of environment, service, and food. I would choose China Buffet over this place any day and to be honest, I'm not sure why I still decide to go here.
Overall, ratchet is a great word for describing China King. The facility is dimly lit and feels sticky; service is focused on getting you in and out of the restaurant as fast as possible. The food is average at best; most of it has only some semblance of a flavor, but at least there's a decent variety. Half of it is Mexican food for some reason (probably reflective of their customers, 90% of which on any given day are Hispanic) and an additional 25% is Western staples like pizza and macaroni and cheese. The remaining food is your stereotypical "Chinese" takeout-type food, except it would be better at a takeout place.
In the desert that is most of China King, the sushi bar and perhaps Hibachi grill are the oases. The sushi selection is decent in terms of variety and the taste is pretty good too, and with the Hibachi bar, you choose the ingredients that go into your plate before sending it to the kitchen, where they grill it (ex. meats, veggies, eggs, etc.). That, at least, gives the meal more credibility than other dishes in the buffet, which are all somewhat suspicious in terms of what exactly you're eating.
In the end, to me, it's a puzzle as to why this place is so popular. It's not cheap. The food is not good or good for you. The environment is super sketchy. Perhaps location is a factor, since China Buffet, in Greensboro, is too far for some people, leaving this as their only option. But if you're looking for what's essentially an upgraded version of China King, head to China Buffet instead. -

Food's repulsive and cold. Place is barely filled and we still had to wait 5 mins to be seated. For a chinese restaurant, they did not have much chinese options available, also, they did pretty horribly with the flavor of their food. I could barely swallow the crab ragoon and pork dumplings. Sushi was terrible in my opinion, but my sister like it so I guess it really depends. The only thing worth eating was everything located in their hibachi area. Whatever sauce they're using over there, saved my day. Having that on my fresh shrimp compensated for the substandard quality of the rest of their food. Should've listened to the reviews cause this place was a giant waste of money.

Visited the restaurant Sunday it was a horrible experience never have i been so embarrassed in my life. The host asked of I wanted a table or booth. I had my whole family 8 people in total. Obviously asked for a table, the guy said the booth was the same and did not want to give us a table. He sat my family apart, mg mother said it was okay since we had driven there and it was getting late. They finally brought our drinks and were missing one drink asked to please bring the drink we were missing. He decided it was okay to start arguing with the waitress in-front of us about it, when it was him who took our drink order. He brought so much attention our way, very loud and rude. NEVER GOING BACK

The China King used to be the standard for Chinese in the area. Sadly that has all changed. It is in fact the absolute worst Chinese.
The building itself is getting run down looking. Large parking lot. But as soon as you enter this place it smells bad. The place has a greasy unclean feel. There is a film on every surface. Just plain nasty. The floor is like a skating rink due to this. Watch your step.
The food is the lowest quality imaginable. There is no flavor. Just yuck yuck. Greasy nasty low quality food. Don't waste your time or money in this place. You can get better Chinese food in a grocery store.
